Mark and Alissa were married on September 22nd, 2000. Hunter Alan Peterson was born on October 13th, 2002, and Weston James Peterson was born on July 9th, 2004. We love our boys and spending lots of time with them!
Joining NLIGHTN:
During my life, I have always really enjoyed listening to music and playing the piano. Since starting piano lessons when I was little, playing even before that, I've grown to love playing. When I came home from my mission, I became close friends with Brent Slade. He had such a great voice, and we enjoyed arranging various church music and hymns together. I would play, he would sing, and we thought about making a CD sometime. I worked on a simple CD that included various hymns that I had arranged over the years and was then asked to accompany Brent and his family on a CD they had been working on. Soon thereafter, I moved to Utah for the summer, living with my grandparents and working for my brother who owned a private school in Provo. I realized that leaving my future wife Alissa Madsen, and not having a piano to play was too hard. I cut my trip short and came home a little earlier than I had planned. Alissa and I announced our engagement the day I came home. That very night I received a call from Brent Slade with an invitation to come over to his parent’s home and meet some friends of his to talk about working on some new music. As we sat together in that living room, Camron shared many ideas for new lyrics related to the gospel, and together, they invited me to help with the creation of the music, melodies and to be the ‘piano guy’ in the group. Since then, a couple of CD’s have been created with original music, many concerts and firesides have been performed, and many fun memories and friendships have been formed that will last a life time.
Whether or not we perform for 1 more year, or the next 30 years, as long as we continue to provide you a chance to listen to original, meaningful, and uplifting music, as if you were sitting here in our living room, then we will have achieved our goal.
